Missouri Southern Holds Commencement: 600 graduate

600 Missouri Southern State University students are now officially alumni.
The commencement ceremony held in Leggett and Platt athletic center on campus brings family, friends and the community to see students receive that coveted diploma. This year's keynote speaker  Betsy Banks Saul was, a 19-89 graduate of Missouri sSsouthernand  creator of the website Pet-finder.
  Many faced  challenges  this year, with the death of coach Derek Moore. University officials say graduation day can be bittersweet.
Interim President Alan Marble says, "These are a great group of kids. It's kind of mixed emotions, you hate to see them go, but you're just tickled to death wondering what's next."
Saturday morning  graduates earned degrees in the arts and sciences, health sciences and cooperative graduate programs. A second commencement was held in the afternoon for those in business,  education,  and general studies.
