Mission Clay owners may sale 100 acres of land

Updated:
100 acres in of land in the middle of Pittsburg is up for sale.

"it's just a critical part of our town," said Pittsburg City Manger Daron Hall

Mission clay used the land to build clay pipes, however operations at the plant have ended.

"If we an opportunity to build on 100 acres in town that's where I would like to look," said Hall.

Hall says it's unknown at this time if the city will have a chance to acquire the land, but hopes to share the same vision with the new owners.

"My dream would be to build little league ball fields, little league soccer fields, some housing spread in there and some commercial business, something the community can go to and spend their time there," said Hall.

Mission Clay will still have an office in Pittsburg, we're told the owners have reached out to the university and private individuals but at this time the plans are not clear and it could be a lengthy process.

"It's their land were here to support them and the key is were talking to mission clay and were going to continue talking to mission clay about doing what's best for them and for the city of pittsburg," said Hall.
