National Senior Health and Fitness Day at the Joplin Family YMCA - May 31

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE JOPLIN FAMILY YMCA

Joplin, MO. (April 28, 2014) – The Joplin Family YMCA will host a free National Senior Health and Fitness event from 12:00pm-4:00pm on May 31, 2014 at the Y’s South branch. The free event will host a variety of businesses and organizations that offer information or services related to supplemental insurance, health services, recreational activities, volunteerism and more.

“This event will give seniors and their families the opportunity to connect with resources that will help them stay healthy and active,” said Dusty Read, Joplin Family YMCA fitness and aquatics director.

Each senior who attends will also receive a certificate for free one-month membership at the Joplin Family YMCA.

National Senior Health and Fitness (NSHF) Day is the largest nationwide event recognizing senior health and healthy aging. In over 1,000 locations across America, 100,000 seniors and their families will participate in NSHF events in 2014.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 12:00pm – 4:00pm at the Joplin Family YMCA’s South branch, located at 3404 W. McIntosh Circle Drive, Joplin, MO 64804. This event is free and open to the community.

    The Joplin Police Department worked a deadly crash at 7th and Tri State Tuesday evening (April 24). Authorities say 58-year-old Mark Rohr, driving a Dodge Durango, was turning east from the stop sign at 7th and Tri State Road.  38-year-old Donald L. Kidwell III was driving a Kawasaki Ninja westbound on 7th street when he hit the rear driver's side of the Durango.  Kidwell was thrown from the motorcycle.
