Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School students graduate with high honors

The 18th graduating class of Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School in Joplin graduated with high honors today.
The 15 graduates had an average ACT score of 28 and earned a total of $2.5 million in college scholarships.
All students also took several AP courses for the chance to earn college credit.
Today, family and friends gathered at the school concert hall to honor their accomplishments.
The commencement speaker was Cameron Graham, an alum of the school who works as a political and military intelligence officer in Washington D.C.
Graham has served in two wars, and says America's biggest threat is not Al-Qaeda or terrorism, but rather complacency within.
So he encouraged students to be engaged citizens, as many of them already are.
"Even discussing it at a young age helps you become part of that enlightened citizenry, participate in government and be an active member of society," said graduate Sanjay Jenkins.
All of the graduates will be attending college in the fall.
The group was admitted into a total of 54 different schools nationwide.
