- Award-winning sub franchise plans to open 20 locations in the area

- Executives schedule June event to share plans with franchise prospects

LAS VEGAS, June 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Capriotti's Sandwich Shop, the nationally-recognized sandwich chain known for its award-winning cold, grilled and vegetarian subs, as well as its signature cheese steaks and salads, has announced plans to open as many 20 new restaurants in the Austin area over the next seven years.

Capriotti's was named one of the "10 Great Places for a Surprising Sandwich" by USA Today and "Greatest Sandwich in America" by AOL. In addition, Forbes recently ranked Capriotti's one of  "The 10 Best Food Franchises For Your Buck" and #8 on its list of "Best Franchises: Initial Investment $150,001 - $500,000."

The growth will be driven by franchising and is part of an overall expansion effort in Texas that also includes the Houston and San Antonio areas. Capriotti's currently operates four restaurants in the Dallas area and one in the Houston suburb of Sugar Land.

To launch the Austin expansion, Capriotti's has scheduled a presentation for Wednesday, June 25, at the Doubletree by Hilton at 6505 IH-35, where prospective franchisees can meet with senior executives to learn more about the chain's development plans. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. and reservations can be made by calling 866-959-FRESH or by e-mail to bruce.evans@capriottis.com.

CEO Ashley Morris said Texas already has proven to be a perfect fit for Capriotti's, and he anticipates that Austin will become one of the most popular markets in the nation.

"Our locations in Texas have been a great success, and we're excited about the opportunity to be part of such a vibrant city as Austin," said Morris, who was one of the chain's largest franchisees before purchasing the company in 2008. "The people of Austin are not willing to sacrifice quality for speed, and we expect them to become very loyal fans."

Established in 1976, Capriotti's serves quality sandwiches made with fresh ingredients in more than 100 locations across the United States, and is committed to ensuring its guests experience the best taste possible. Some of the award-winning sandwiches include the sub shop's signature creation, The Bobbie®, made with in-house roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, homemade stuffing and a hint of mayo on a freshly baked roll, and the Capastrami®, made with hot pastrami, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing. Capriotti's also offers a variety of vegetarian sub options like the Veggie Cheese Steak and an assortment of hand-tossed salads such as The Black & Bleu, made with chopped greens, homemade roast beef, diced cucumbers, sweet peppers and bleu cheese crumbles.
