Sweet Caroline's Sweet Caroline's

Joplin will soon have its first ice cream shop in the downtown district according to the Downtown Alliance.

"Sweet Caroline's Cream and Coffee" is preparing for its grand opening on the first floor of the Gryphon building.

Open seven days a week, 32 flavors of hard-scooped ice cream will be available at all times, along with coffee, cinnamon rolls, gourmet candy and other treats.

The parlor has a vintage feel with an old-fashioned soda fountain.

But is also modernized with free wi-fi.

The owners are life-long Joplin residents and say they look forward to giving something "uniquely Joplin" back to the community.

Project manager, Ginger Sweet says, "Especially since the tornado, I see a real change in people in Joplin trying to promote local businesses and I see a trend going away from all these chains to let's keep it local, so I think that's great and we're excited to be a part of that.”

The business has already passed its health and fire inspections and is now just waiting on its building inspection.

Once passed, owners can obtain their merchant license from the city and hope to open later this week. It will be open 7 days a week Sundays  from PM-10pm, Monday through Thursday 7am- 10 pm and Friday 7am-11pm.
