NEWS RELEASE FROM PITTSBURG STATE
Brazilians around the world will be watching intently Tuesday when the home team takes on Mexico in World Cup action. A couple of dozen of their most intense fans will be a contingent of Brazilian students at Pittsburg State University.
Luis Aranda, area coordinator for PSU’s University Housing Office, said PSU plans to host watch parties for all of the games involving both Brazil and the U.S.
“We hosted a party for last week’s match between Brazil and Croatia and it was pretty wild,” Aranda said.
The parties are held in the lounge of Crimson Commons, the residence hall complex where most of the PSU Brazilian students are living during the summer. Residence hall staff have even tried their hand at making some Brazilian-style snacks to make it feel more like home, Aranda said.
“It’s a lot of fun for us to watch the students during the match,” Aranda said. “They really get into it.”
