Crawford County, KS: K-126 resurfacing will now start June 23

Updated:
On Monday, June 23, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) expects to start a project to mill and overlay approximately six miles of K-126 in Crawford County. The project initially was scheduled to begin on June 18 but was postponed.

The contractor plans to begin work at the west city limits of Pittsburg and continue west, ending at the K-126/K-7 junction. The resurfacing project includes a 1-inch mill, 1½-inch asphalt overlay and rock wedge. Flaggers and a pilot car will guide one-lane traffic through the work zone. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less during daylight hours.

KDOT awarded the construction contract of $651,994 to Chester Bross Construction of Hannibal, Mo. The road work should be completed by early July, weather permitting.

Bob Gudgen, area construction engineer at the Pittsburg KDOT office, reminds drivers to slow down, obey the signs and flaggers, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” at the work zone. Persons with questions may contact Gudgen at (620) 231-7560 or Priscilla Petersen at 1-877-550-5368. The project is funded under the T-WORKS transportation program. For additional information concerning T-WORKS visit the website, www.ksdot.org/tworks.
