Pittsburg State's Center for the Arts has officially been given a name.

Pittsburg State's Center for the Arts has officially been given a name.

PSU President Dr. Steve Scott announced Friday the $33 million venue will be called the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts in honor of the lead donor to the project, Gene Bicknell, his wife, Rita, and the Bicknell family.

Friday's announcement was followed by a media tour of the new facility.

Students say they're looking forward to the possibilities the new arts center will bring to campus.

"Well, honestly, it is amazing because theatre does not always get the support it deserves, as a student we have been using a really tiny facility and it is not enough," says PSU senior Caitie Almond.

The Center for the Arts is slated to be completed this Fall.
