Second and third grade students in Columbus, Kansas are supporting our troops this summer with lemonade. The Columbus courthouse was host today to a lemonade stand run by kids from Highland Elementary School.
A portion of the proceeds will go towards care packages for soldiers.
The students are also hoping to fund the construction of a fence for a dog at the local nursing home.
Today's stand brought in $220 within about an hour's time.
"I hope it will just instill in them, just, character for life, just to be able to serve other people," says Shari Napier, a teacher at the school. The group plans on hosting another lemonade stand at the courthouse on July 30.
