Lemonade stand at Columbus courthouse raises funds for troops

Second and third grade students in Columbus, Kansas are supporting our troops this summer with lemonade.

The Columbus courthouse was host today to a lemonade stand run by kids from Highland Elementary School.

A portion of the proceeds will go towards care packages for soldiers.

The students are also hoping to fund the construction of a fence for a dog at the local nursing home.

Today's stand brought in $220 within about an hour's time.

"I hope it will just instill in them, just, character for life, just to be able to serve other people," says Shari Napier, a teacher at the school.

The group plans on hosting another lemonade stand at the courthouse on July 30.
