Two people are in custody today after a vehicle pursuit.

Updated:
Two people are in custody today after a vehicle pursuit started in Nevada and ended in a foot pursuit in Kansas. According to a press release, Sheriff Jason Mosher and Chief Deputy Shayne Simmons were conducting drug interdiction patrolling late Wednesday morning when they attempted to stop a pickup driven by a suspect they recognized as a felony revoked driver along with a passenger who had outstanding felony warrants.

The truck failed to stop and began running from the Sheriff on N Ash Street in Nevada. The truck ran North of Nevada and eventually ended up in Kansas. According to the press release, the vehicle ran into a field where both parties then fled into the woods. The Sheriff said Kansas State Police and the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office had already been notified but were still a ways out. Sheriff Mosher and Chief Deputy Simmons pursued the suspects on foot into the woods where they were both apprehended. The passenger, who was arrested on no-bond felony warrants of possession of a controlled substance and forgery, has been identified as Stephanie Stafford (Pictured), 26 of Nevada. The name of the driver has not yet been released pending the filing of formal charges with the Vernon County Prosecutors Office.

Sheriff Jason Mosher said custody of the two suspects was turned over to the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office and the Kansas State Police. Both subjects were taken to the Bourbon County Jail pending the filing of paperwork to have them brought back into Missouri.
