Dr. Sonia Rapaport becomes the 6th doctor to earn certification in the Shoemaker Protocol for treating Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), and the first in the Eastern US.

Pocomoke, MD (PRWEB) July 07, 2014

Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker, leader in the field of biotoxin and mold related illness research and treatment, takes another step towards his goal of building a nationwide network of doctors trained in the Shoemaker Protocol.

Sonia Rapaport, MD, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the sixth doctor to be certified in the protocol, specializes in the holistic evaluation and treatment of patients with complex, multisystem illnesses. Dr. Rapaports drive to complete the Shoemaker Protocol certification began after realizing that many of her patients with chronic fatigue and Lyme disease were symptomatic of the Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) found with biotoxin exposure.

Dr. Rapaport is a welcome addition to our network of physicians that can effectively use the protocol to treat patients with CIRS and other biotoxin related illnesses, reported Dr. Shoemaker. The network is now coast to coast, making it easier for the many people who ask the question is there a doctor in my area that can help me? to find the treatment they require. The Shoemaker Protocol is a step by step process using differential diagnosis and proven scientific fundamentals that has been shown to be effective for treatment of CIRS.

After receiving her M.D. from the University of Virginia in 1991 and completing her residency, Dr. Rapaport relocated to North Carolina, working in a primary care practice as well as serving as the medical consultant for the health department. In 2008, she founded Haven Medical, a holistic, integrative medical practice in Chapel Hill. She has spoken nationally on integrative medicine, and in 2002, presented a talk on inherited dysautonomias at the NIH. She has served on the Board of the American Holistic Medical Association, and is a founder and current president of Familial Dysautonomia Hope Foundation.
