Kansas Water Vision Team makes a stop in Fort Scott

The Kansas Water Office and Department of Agriculture's Water Vision Team, released the preliminary discussion draft in Southeast Kansas on Friday.

Officials with the two departments spoke at Fort Scott Community College.

The document is intended to provide a framework for assuring Kansans have a reliable supply of water for all beneficial uses for the next half century.

The draft contains more than 170 strategies under four main themes: Water Conservation, Water Management, Technology and Crop Varieties, and New Sources of Supply.

The team of water officials conducted 12 public meeting across the state to continue gathering input for the next draft.
