Aerial and road enthusiasts gather in Southeast Kansas

Updated:
The area's first fly-in, drive-in event was held at the Oswego Municipal Airport. Pilots and drivers of old aircrafts and cars, some of which dated back to 1920's, stopped by the Oswego airport to talk parts and new and old models over breakfast or lunch. According to the event's organizer, the event provides a way for enthusiasts to stay current with what's new and noteworthy in the skies and on the roads. It also keeps people informed about various aircrafts and small airports.

The event attracted more than 40 airplanes in the morning.

"At one time we had 40 lined up, 42 I believe, lined up right down the side of the runway," said Charles Stone. "And then some more come in and went, come in and went. I know of lost track. I just try to keep them parked, keep them safe. It's a very safe airport to come into. We don't have any obstacles, such as trees, power lines or anything that way."

The Oswego Lions Club hosted the breakfast and lunch. Organizers say there will be another fly-in event in October.
