KU Kickoff at Corinth Square Set For August 22

Football season is right around the corner and for Jayhawk fans that is signified by what has become an end-of-the summer tradition, the KU Kickoff at Corinth Square. The ninth annual event sponsored by First National Bank, will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, beginning at 6 p.m.

Kansas Athletics and the KU Alumni Association will join forces to host the family-friendly event located at 83rd & Mission Road in Prairie Village, Kansas. KU football head coach Charlie Weis and women's basketball head coach Bonnie Henrickson will each address the crowd at Corinth Square.

Also sponsored by Shawnee Mission Health, the KU Kickoff at Corinth Square will include food, drinks and KU giveaways as well as inflatable games for kids. The band Coversmith is scheduled to perform from 8-10 p.m. A limited number of coupons for Corinth Square vendors will be available for members of the KU Alumni Association and Williams Education Fund who show their membership cards.

Kansas will open the 2014 football season by hosting Southeast Missouri State on Saturday, Sept. 6 in Memorial Stadium. Game time is slated for 6 p.m. Tickets are available and can be purchased by contacting the Kansas Ticket Office at 1-800-34-HAWKS or via the web at KUAthletics.com.

    Former Labette Community College baseball pitcher, Jeremy Smith, was drafted on June 14 in the 2017 MLB draft in the 38th round by the San Diego Padres. Smith played for the Cardinals, under head coach Aaron Keal, in the spring of 2014 and 2015. He is the son of Jeremy and Tendeka Smith and a graduate of Bellaire High School. After attending LCC, he went on to play at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, OK. More >>
