Texas Man Arrested Inside of Sheriff's Vehicle

Carthage, MO - On 8-8-2014, at approximately 5:30 am, Jasper County Deputies along with Carthage Police Dept. and Joplin Police Dept. , arrested a 17-Year old male for 1st degree Burglary and Tampering with a motor vehicle.

While working at the Marion Days celebration in Carthage, Mo., Officers from Joplin and Carthage were alerted to a Jasper County Sheriff's K-9 vehicle when they heard the K-9 barking.

The Officers along with a Jasper County Deputy arrested the teenager inside of the Sheriff's vehicle. During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had committed a 1st degree Burglary by entering an occupied tent and stealing items. When the occupants woke up, they saw him run from the tent. The suspect had left behind his back pack during the Burglary.

The suspect, of Tarrant, Texas, was transported to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office Detention center and charges were sent to the Prosecuting attorney for review.

The investigation continues and more charges may be brought against the suspect.
