Post Practice Quotes - Sept. 17

Updated:

Press Release University of Arkansas:

Linebackers coach Randy Shannon on observations of NIU:
“Both teams like to run the football and both teams are going to be really physical. They have some really good powerful backs run the ball very well. The quarterback is a new guy, but they're taking a lot of pressure off of him by trying to do the running game. They try to get you on your heels in situations where they try to go play-action pass and get something deep.”

Shannon on NIU Quarterback Drew Hare: “It's hard against any team with a quarterback that can both run and throw because you have to be able to take one away. If you take away the running game, then you'll be successful, but if you can't take away the running game, it will be a long game. “

Defensive Backs coach Clay Jennings on Kevin Richardson: “He's doing some good things. I'm pleasantly surprised with Kevin. He made a couple of tackles in space. He's not busting any coverage when he's in the game. The one thing he will do is throw his body around. He plays with a little bit of ruckus so as long as he's doing that he'll be safe.”

Jennings on Kevin Richardson's Improvement: “We thought Kevin had a chance in the spring. The first time he flashed was really during one-on-ones. Throughout the spring we would throw him in there a couple of times and he played some plays. Corner in the spring and then about halfway through fall camp he got some dead legs and we needed a guy to play in the slot and he did a tremendous job and continues to do a great job for us.”

JaMicheal Winston on NIU offense: “Well our offense prides themselves on running the ball. We've been doing that since camp so that's the norm for us. If they run it 60 times in the game, then we're going to have to stop it 60 times, but they like to pass off the run so that will be interesting.”
