Crews are in the midst of demolition for new Joe Becker Stadium

Updated:
The hard work is evident here at Joe Becker Stadium.

"This is kind of getting the old Joe Becker ready for the new Joe Becker," said Shawn Suarez, owner and general manager of the Joplin Blasters. "Getting ready for the new future of it."

Crews are using heavy machinery to remove the old stadium concrete and pave the way for the new look.

"There's a lot of movement going on here," said Suarez.

This is not the first time the ballpark has this kind of activity.

Joe Becker stadium suffered two fires, one in the 1930's and another in the 1970's.

As workers have been busy breaking ground, they unearthed an exciting bit of history. Actual tiles that date back to the original stadium.

"Found recently," said Suarez. "So that was pretty exiting for us. It's kind of the history of Joe Becker. To be able to find the different stages of it."

Officials say they look forward to the transformation, scheduled to be completed for the 2015 season.

It will give local and national talent a new place to run home.

Further details on the new stadium are expected to be unveiled sometime next week. These willincludee a finished rendition and ticket prices.
