Volleyball Prepped for Home Weekend

The Pitt State Volleyball team plays back-to-back home matches this weekend against No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney on Friday (Sept. 26) and Fort Hays State on Saturday (Sept. 27).



Friday night's game is set to begin at 7 p.m. It is Greek Night and all Pittsburg State fraternities and soroties are specifically invited to the game. They are also all invited to a special pre-match party at Fuzzy's Tacos on Broadway from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The first 50 students there will receive free chips and queso. The skydeck will be open. there will be $5 taco boat specials and tailgating games. The first 25 students from that party to come to the volleyball match will receive a free Pitt State t-shirt.

Saturday's match begins at 6 p.m., after the football game. Fans are encouraged to come over to the volleyball match and continue cheering on the Gorillas against Fort Hays State.

The Lopers enter Friday's match with an 11-1 record and a 3-1 record in MIAA play, with the team's only loss coming at the hands of Central Oklahoma. The team is ranked fifth in the the most recent AVCA poll and is tied for third in the league standings. Fort Hays State is 6-6 overall and 1-3 in league play, which puts them in a five-way tie for seventh in the league standings, a tie that also includes the Gorillas. They will play Southwest Baptist on Friday before coming to Pittsburg.

Pitt State is 4-8 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play.
