Frazell Named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week

Updated:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State University senior place kicker Connor Frazell was named the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week Monday (Oct. 6).

Frazell (5-10, 183) booted three field goals for the decisive points in No. 19 Pitt States 23-13 victory over Missouri Western Saturday (Oct. 4) at St. Joseph, Mo. The Iola, Kan., native connected on kicks of 25, 25 and 34 yards in the game. His first connection gave Pitt State a 17-10 second quarter lead, after the Griffons had trimmed a 14-0 deficit to a 14-10 margin.

Frazell, who helped the Gorillas record their 17th consecutive road victory dating back to the 2010 season, accounted for the game's only scoring in the second half and his 34-yard kick with 9:48 remaining in the game gave the Gorillas a double-digit lead.

Others nominated: Marquez Clark, Central Oklahoma; Will Mondragon, Central Missouri; Drew O'Brien, Missouri Southern.
