Joplin welcomes new postmaster

Updated:
Danny Bishop has been sworn in as the new Joplin postmaster.

Bishop moved here in August from Fort Gibson, OK and says he has been wanting to make the move to Joplin.

Several postal workers and city officials attended a ceremony to welcome bishop and his family this morning.

"My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Joplin community now," Bishop said.

"He's going to be a great addition to the community and you can tell the postal staff is very excited to have him here," said Mike Seibert, mayor.  "I think it's great. It's a great day in Joplin."

Bishop has served as a postmaster since 1990 and Joplin is the eighth city where he has held the position.
