Huff to apply for new position

Joplin, MO - Joplin School Superintendent Dr. CJ Huff will apply to be Missouri's next state commissioner of education after he was nominated as a candidate by the state department of education.

Huff said this is step one, he may not even get the chance to be interviewed.

He said that this position excites him because he gets to work with legislatures and teacher organization to make it better for the children.

The commissioner position opens when Chris Nicastro retires in December 2014.

Huff said if hired he does not know when he would live the district, he could still be superintendent next year.But if he does get the job then he will eventually have to leave the district.

    The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a Golden, Missouri man has died in a single-vehicle crash on May 22nd, 2018. The crash happened around 3:35 p.m. in Barry County, MO. According to the MSHP, 65-year-old Dale C. Shepard was driving on MO 86, about one mile west of Golden, when he drove off the road and hit several trees. Authorities say he died at the scene. This is MSHP Troop D's 42nd fatality accident for 2018.More >>
