MIAA women's basketball ready for week one

Week one is on the horizon for MIAA women's basketball. 



Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#20 Central Missouri heads for Minnesota
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 at Minnesota State-Mankato 7 p.m.
#20 Central Missouri opens the season with a road trip to Minnesota State-Mankato. The Jennies top returning scorer is Shelby Winklemann who averaged 10.8 points per game last season. On the glass UCM was led by Revonnia Howard who averaged 9.4 boards per contest.

Central Oklahoma faces off with in-state schools
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Southeastern Oklahoma St. 12 p.m.   11/15 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma St. 2 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will face two in-state schools as part of the MIAA/GAC Challenge in Tahlequah, Okla. The top returning scorer for the Bronchos is Julia Mason who averaged 11.3 points per game last season. Olivia Mason led the way on the glass averaging 6.9 rebounds per game.

#7 Emporia State heads for Texas
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Texas Woman's 5 p.m.   11/15 at Midwestern State 7 p.m. 
#5 Emporia State will be on the road at Wichita Falls Texas to face Texas Woman's and Midwestern State. The top returning scorer for the Lady Hornets was Merissa Quick who averaged 12.8 points per game and also led the way on the glass averaging 7.4 rebounds per game.

Fort Hays State off to Minnesota
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Bemidji State 5 p.m.    11/15 at #10 Concordia St. Paul 5 p.m.
Fort Hays State will be on the road in Minnesota to open the season. Kate Lehman is the team's top returner after averaging 16.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game last year.

Lincoln head out on the road
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/15 vs. Ouachita Baptist 6 p.m.   11/18 at McKendree 7 p.m.  
Lincoln will begin the season away from home as they face Ouachita Baptist and McKendree. The top returning scorer for the Blue Tigers is Hunter Yoakum at 10.4 points per game. On the glass Kate Frazier averaged 2.7 rebounds per contest.

Lindenwood starts things out at home
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Arkansas-Monticello 7 p.m.    11/18 vs. Missouri Baptist 7 p.m.
Lindenwood begins the 2014-15 campaign with two straight at home. Kassidy Gengenbacher is the top returning scorer averaging 16.1 points per game. On the glass Morgan Johnson averaged 3.5 boards per contest.

Missouri Southern opens the year at home
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Oklahoma Panhandle St. 7 p.m.    11/15 vs. Rockhurst 7 p.m.
Missouri Southern will host their own tournament facing off with Oklahoma Panhandle St. and Rockhurst. Sharese Jones led the way for the Lions last season averaging 13.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Missouri Western heads for Quincy
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Robert Morris 5 p.m.   11/15 at Quincy 4 p.m.
Missouri Western will travel to the Quincy Classic to face the host and Robert Morris College. Tiara Hall is the top returner for the Griffons averaging 5.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game last season.

Nebraska-Kearney starts at home
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 at #12 Wayne State 6 p.m.   11/15 vs. #25 Northern State 6 p.m.   11/17 vs. Midland 6 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney will be at Wayne State for two games before facing Midland in their home opener. The top returner for the Lopers is Amarah Williams who averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 2013-14.

Northeastern State hosts MIAA/GAC Challenge
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State 5:30 p.m.  11/15 vs. Southeastern Oklahoma State 6:30 p.m.
Northeastern State will host the MIAA/GAC Challenge to open the season. The top returner for the team is Fontana Tate who averaged 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for the RiverHawks last season.

Northwest Missouri travels to #12 Wayne State
Last Week: Did not play      Upcoming: 11/14 vs. #25 Northern St. 8 p.m. 
11/15 at #12 Wayne St. 4 p.m.   11/17 vs. Saint Mary (Neb.) 6 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will be at the NSIC/MIAA Challenge hosted by #12 Wayne State. The top returning scorer for the Bearcats is Ariel Easton with 15.7 points per game. On the glass Shelby Mustain averaged 5.3 boards per contest.

#24 Pittsburg State heads for Minnesota
Last Week: Did not play    Upcoming: 11/14 at #10 Concordi St. Paul 7 p.m.
11/15 vs. Bemidji State 3 p.m.   11/16 vs. SW Minnesota State 2 p.m.
#24 Pittsburg State will head to Minnesota to open the regular season with three. The top returner for the Gorillas is Lizzy Jeronimus who averaged 18.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest.

Southwest Baptist stays close to home
Last Week: Did not play
Upcoming: 11/14 vs. Ouachita Baptist 5:30 p.m.  11/18 at Drury 5:30 p.m.
Southwest Baptist begins play in Bolivar, as they face Ouachita Baptist. The top returner for the Bearcats is Brook Duncan who averaged 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest last season.

Washburn heads to Puerto Rico
Last Week: Did not play  Upcoming: 11/15 at Puerto Rico-Bayamon 11 a.m.
11/16 vs. Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras 12 p.m.  11/18 vs. Benedictine 5:30 p.m.
Washburn will travel to Puerto Rico for two games to open the season before their home opener. Casyn Buchman is the leading returner for the Ichabods averaging 14.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest last season.
