Head Coach Jenny Mueller announces the signing of four high school athletes to sign to play for Gorilla Volleyball. Kajohna Davis, Madison Denton, Noelle Dooley and Lauren Maisberger will join the Gorillas for the 2015 season.

Kajohna Davis is a 5-5 libero/defensive specialist from Fort Woth, Texas. She attends Boswell High School and is coached by Kevin Anderson. Davis earned first-team all-district honors as a senior in 2014 and second-team honors as a junior. She earned academic all-district honors both seasons. She also has competed in track and basketball. Davis plays club volleyball for Texas Advantage coached by Eric Betz. Kajohna is the daughter of John and Regina Davis. She plans to major in chemistry at Pittsburg State.

"Kajohna Davis is a very aggressive and dynamic defensive specialist from Fort Worth, Texas," said Mueller. "Her time with TAV, a very strong volleyball club, has given her the opportunity to expand her game and compete against top competition. She is the type of player who will run through the brick wall to get the ball up and ask from the rubble if the ball was playable. Her 'Go All Out' attitude is part of the culture we want here at Pittsburg State and I'm looking forward to the competitive nature she will bring."

Madison (Madi) Denton is a 5-11 middle/rightside hitter from Olather, Kan. She attends Olathe Northwest High School where she is coached by Barry Lenth. She helped the Ravens to a 73-17 record over the last two seasons. She has been a two-time honorable mention all-league selection. In her senior season she recorded 148 kills, 32 total blocks, including 26 solo blocks, and 32 service aces. Denton plays club ball for Highlands, coached by Pete Smart. Madi is the daughter of Craig and Judy Denton. She plans to major in special education at Pittsburg State.

"Madi Denton is a multi-position hitter from Olathe, Kansas," Mueller said. "She has played several front court positions with both her club and high school teams. Madi can run the slide and swing from both the right and left sides of the court. When we were watching players in the 2015 class we knew right away that she would fit nicely into the dynamic offense we run at Pittsburg State. Her experience and skill set will be a wonderful asset."

Noelle Dooley is a 5-10 hitter and setter from Goddard, Kan. She attends Garden Plain High School where she is coached by Gina Clark. As a sophomore, Dooley helped the Owls to a Class 3A Sub-State Championship while earning honorable mention all-league honors. She eaned first-team all-league honors over the last two seasons, while helping the owels to a 64-16 record. Dooley recorded 3.4 kills, 3.3 digs and 4.9 assists per set along with 47 service aces in her senior season. She also plays basketball and and competes in track. Noelle is the daughter of Stephen and Cynthia Dooley. She is undecided on a mjor at Pittsburg State.

"Noelle Dooley is a very athletic multi-position player," Mueller said. "She has been a foundational team leader and a dominating force as a 6-rotation setter/hitter for Garden Plain High School. Noelle found me personally at camp this summer and said, 'I want to be a Gorilla.' I was impressed from the start. I'm looking forward to the continued develop of her versatile game, to her work ethic, and her drive to compete here for Pittsburg State."

Lauren Maisberger is a 5-0 libero/defensive specialist from Topeka, Kan. She attends shawnee Heights High School and is coached by Laura Curry. She helped the Thunderbirds to a third place finish in the Kansas Class 5A state tournament in 2014 and a 67-16 reecord over the last two seasons. As a senior she recorded 368 digs and 52 service aces, helping her to earn fisrt-team All-Centennial league and all-city honors. She is also an accomplished track athlete, having qualified for the state championship in the 4x800 relay and the 800 for three years. Maisberger has played club volleyball for Nitro, Topeka Impact and Invasion. In 2014 her Impact club placed fifth at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships. Lauren is the daughter of Freddy and Shawn Maisberger. She plans to major in recreation or communication at Pittsburg State.

"Lauren Maisberger is another dynamic defensive specialist," Mueller said. "She has been an effective communicator for her teams and flat out covers the court well. Lauren has played for very successful programs both in High School and in club. Her teams have competed at a very high level against some incredible competition. It's easy to say that part of why they have done well is because of her first touch play and communication. I'm looking forward to the contributions she will make in the back court at Pittsburg State."
