Carthage honors members of the community by inducting them into its hall of heroes.

Updated:

The heroes were nominated by their colleagues and families and chosen by an anonymous committee.

Among the many honored was Laurel Rosenthal, principal of Mark Twain Elementary for 26 years, who is originally from Kansas City.

"I feel like I am a Carthaginian, as I said before," said Laurel Rosenthal. "When I first came they said you had to be born to be a Carthaginian, like my husband and two sons. But after sixty years here I feel like I am a Carthaginian. If not by birth by heart."

Robert  Dale and Walter Carter also received awards.
