No. 10 Gorillas Run Away With 102-45 Road Win

Lizzy Jeronimus scored a game-high 23 points to lead six Gorillas in double figures as No. 10 ranked Pittsburg State University ran away with a 102-45 road win over Truman State University Wednesday (Nov. 26) at Pershing Arena.


The Gorillas improved to 6-0 on the season with the win, while handing the Bulldogs (3-1) their first loss of the year.

Pitt State shot 58.3 percent from the field in the game, making 42 of 71 shots from the floor. The Gorillas built a 47-24 halftime advantage by holding the Bulldogs to eight of 27 shooting (.296) in the opening period.

Jeronimus converted 10 of 17 shots and made all three of her free throw attempts to finish with 23 points. She added a game-high eight rebounds as the Gorillas owned a 36-25 advantage on the glass.

Morgan Westhoff and Mikaela Burgess added 15 points apiece off the bench for the Gorillas. Westhoff made six of seven shots from the field, including three of four 3-point field goal attempts.

Kylie Gafford, Cathy Brugman and Brigit Hesser added 12 points apiece for Pitt State. Brugman also dished out a game-high six assists.

Truman got 10 points and six rebounds from Allie Norton. The Bulldogs, who committed 22 turnovers in the contest, finished the game 12 of 46 from the field (.296).

The Gorillas will return to action Friday when they play in day one action of the Drury University Thanksgiving Classic. Pitt State will face the host school, Drury, at 5:30 p.m.
