2015 Women of Distinction Honorees

The Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the honorees for the 2015 Women of Distinction Community Calendar. The calendar honors twelve area women who lead by example in donating their time and talents to benefit their community.

"The chamber is proud to honor these twelve exceptional women who put so much time and energy into serving others and improving our community," said Devin Gorman, vice president of operations for the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce. "The calendar provides the perfect opportunity for the community to show our gratitude and to celebrate the honorees throughout the entire year.

The 2015 honorees are:

Lou Ann Colyer - SKIL

Audrey Dickey - St. Mary's Colgan

Megan Fry - City of Pittsburg

Leslie Harris - United Way of SWMO & SEK

Missi Kelly - KRPS-FM, Pittsburg State University

Robin White Mussa - Pitsco Education

Dr. Jacqueline Orender - Jacqueline S. Orender, DO, LLC

Dr. Mary Carol G. Pomatto - Pittsburg State University

Deborah Post Potter - SEK Interlocal 637 and Pittsburg State University

Linda Roberts - Miners Hall Museum and Lifelong Educator

Rhonda White - Pittsburg High School

Marlene Willis - Southeast KS Education Service Center-Greenbush

    The state of Kansas now has a Republican nominee for Governor. What has been a roller coaster primary between Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer and Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Colyer announced today he is conceding defeat and is endorsing Kobach. Kobach will face the Democratic nominee Laura Kelly.  Governor Colyer was elevated from his position after former Kansas Governor Sam Brownback took an ambassador's position.

    A Springfield man was indicted by a federal grand jury today (Aug 14, 2018) for making a bomb threat at a Veterans Affairs Clinic. 48-year-old Richard Leslie Turner III allegedly threatened to blow up the Community Based Outpatient Clinic located at 600 N. Main Street in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
