Crowder to Host SWMO Behavior Workshop

Jamie Emery, Director of the Crowder College Behavior Support Center, is pleased to announce the upcoming SWMO Behavior Workshop, featuring Aaron Likens as Keynote Speaker. This workshop will be presented on January 5, 2014, Wright Conference Center, located at Crowder College, Neosho, MO. Mr. Likens was diagnosed at the age of 20 with Asperger's Syndrome and is the author of the amazing book "Finding Kansas: Living and Decoding Asperger's Syndrome." Parents, educators, therapist, researchers, and others have compared it to Dr. Temple Grandin's book "Emergence: Labeled Autistic."

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with Mr. Likens opening the workshop at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude at 3:30 p.m. Break-out session topics include Learning in the Midst of Poverty, Movement in the Classroom to Increase Brain Activity, Extinguishing Problem Behavior in Children, Practical Data Collection for the Classroom, Building Home to School Partnerships and Increasing Functional Language. You may pre-register at ASD@crowder.edu. Additional information is available on Crowder's website at www.crowder.edu under the Business & Community tab, or by calling Grace Kelly at 417-451-2450. Registration for the General Public is $35 which includes lunch. Registration for Crowder College students is $15 and includes lunch.

The Crowder College Behavior Support Center is excited to be able to provide the SWMO Behavior Workshop and host Mr. Likens at this special event. Mr. Likens is an engaging speaker whose presentations have changed how educators, parents, therapist, and doctors view this Autism Spectrum Disorder. This one-day event is a MUST for anyone who works with learning or socially impaired individuals.

    The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is working an accident on Highway 66 east of Riverton, Kansas. According to Sheriff Groves, a road construction worker from KDOT was taken to a Joplin hospital with what he believes to be non-life threatening injuries after being electrocuted today (June 22, 2018). Both lanes of traffic are closed while Empire crews make sure the area is safe. The Cherokee County EMS and Galena Fire Department are also on scene. KDOT is working on an ...
