Caswell Named MIAA Athlete of the Week

Pittsburg State University junior thrower Cassie Caswell was named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week for women's indoor track & field Tuesday (Dec. 9).


Caswell picked up a pair of victories in the shot put and the weight throw in the season-opening MSSU Early Bird Invitational Saturday (Dec. 6). The Nickerson, Kan., native set a new Pitt State indoor school record in the weight throw with her winning toss of 58 feet, 3.75 inches. She also won the shot put with a heave of 45-7.75.

Caswell, a native of Nickerson, Kan., ranks sixth nationally in both events.
