MIAA women's basketball prepares for week five

Many teams will take a break from the league schedule as MIAA women's basketball heads into week five. 



Upcoming MIAA Previews:
Central Missouri at home for one
Last Week: 12/4 l. to Fort Hays State 76-75 OT   12/7 d. William Jewell 78-64
Upcoming: 12/15 vs. #16 Drury 5:30 p.m.
Central Missouri will face #16 Drury at home in their only contest of week five. For the Jennies Shelby Winkelmann is leading the way averaging 16.8 points per game and Jasmine Thompson averages 14.6 points per contest. Justina Prairie Chief is averaging 14.5 points per game and Revonnia Howard is averaging 11.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Central Oklahoma takes the week off
Last Week: 12/4 d. Lindenwood 76-47    12/7 d. Lincoln 93-66
Upcoming: Next 12/18 at Central Missouri
Central Oklahoma will have the week off before returning to league play against Central Missouri. The Bronchos are led by Haley Weathers who is averaging 11.2 points and Olivia Mason with 10.4 points per game. Kylie Mayes is averaging 10.2 points and Julia Mason a team best 6.1 rebounds per contest.

#1 Emporia State continues league play
Last Week: 12/3 d. Northwest Missouri 80-44    12/6 d. Newman 85-49
Upcoming: 12/13 at Southwest Baptist 1:30 p.m.
#1 Emporia State will face off with Southwest Baptist on the road as they continue league play. The Lady Hornets are led by Kelly Moten who is averaging 14.3 points per game. Merissa Quick is averaging 12.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while Addie Lackey is averaging 4.6 assists per contest.

Fort Hays State closes out homestand
Last Week: 12/4 d. #21 Central Missouri 76-75 OT   12/6 d. Missouri Western 81-57
Upcoming: 12/14 vs. Missouri Valley 2 p.m.    12/16 vs. Kansas Wesleyan 5:30 p.m.
Fort Hays State will be at home to face Missouri Valley and Kansas Wesleyan this week. The Tigers are led by MIAA Ahtlete of the Week Kate Lehman who is averaging a double-double with 20.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest.

Lincoln plays one at home
Last Week: 12/4 l. to Northeastern State 69-68    12/7 l. to Central Oklahoma 93-66
Upcoming: 12/13 vs. Illinois-Springfield 3 p.m.
Lincoln will play Illinois-Springfield in their only action of week five. The Blue Tigers are led by Kelsey Williams who is averaging 12.8 points and Kate Frazier with 6.3 rebounds per contest.

Lindenwood opens homestand 
Last Week: 12/4 l. to Central Oklahoma 76-47    12/6 l. to Northeastern State 65-56
Upcoming: 12/13 vs. Missouri St. Louis 1 p.m.
Lindenwood will face Missouri St. Louis at home this week. The Lions are led by Kassidy Gengenbacher with 17.0 points per game. On the glass Vanessa Zailo is averaging 13.4 rebounds per contest.

#18 Missouri Southern rides eight game winning streak
Last Week: 12/4 d. Nebraska-Kearney 92-64    12/6 d. #7 Washburn 66-62
Upcoming: 12/15 vs. Truman State 5:30 p.m.
#18 Missouri Southern has pushed their season opening winning streak to eight games. The Lions are led by Sharese Jones who is averaging 15.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game and Nicole Hartzog with 12.5 points per contest.

Missouri Western waits a week
Last Week: 12/6 l. to Fort Hays State 81-57
Upcoming: Next 12/18 vs. Northeastern State
Missouri Western will not play again until Dec. 18 against Northeastern State. The Griffons are led by LaQuinta Jefferson who is averaging 18.6 points and Sarafina Handy with 13.1 points per contest.

Nebraska-Kearney heads to South Dakota
Last Week: 12/4 l. to Missouri Southern 92-64    12/6 l. to Southwest Baptist 81-69
Upcoming: 12/13 at South Dakota Mines 3 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney will hit the road for South Dakota Mines in week five. The Lopers are led by Amarah Williams with 18.3 points and 8.9 rebounds and Laramey Lewis with 16.4 points and 7.5 boards per contest.

Northeastern State hits the road
Last Week: 12/4 d. Lincoln 69-68    12/6 d. Lindenwood 65-56    12/8 d. SW Oklahoma State 78-65
Upcoming: 12/13 at Rogers State 2 p.m.
Northeastern State will go on the road to face Rogers State in their only action of week five. The RiverHawks are led by Chelsey Beathard who is averaging 11.6 points and Fontana Tate with 11.0 points per contest.

Northwest Missouri heads to Quincy
Last Week: 12/3 l. to #1 Emporia State 80-44   12/6 l. to #8 Pittsburg St. 85-59
Upcoming: 12/13 at Quincy 1 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will be on the road in a match-up with Quincy this week. The Bearcats are led by Ariel Easton who is averaging 16.9 points and a team best 5.9 rebounds per game.

#6 Pittsburg State heads for Hawaii
Last Week: 12/6 d. Northwest Missouri 85-59
Upcoming: 12/16 vs. BYU-Hawaii 2 p.m.
#6 Pittsburg State will open their trip to Hawaii against BYU-Hawaii in week five. The Gorillas are led by Lizzy Jeronimus who is averaging 19.2 points and 6.2 rebounds and Kylie Gafford with 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Southwest Baptist readies to face #1 ESU
Last Week: 12/4 l. to #7 Washburn 80-64  12/6 d. Nebraska-Kearney 81-69
Upcoming: 12/10 at Missouri S&T 7 p.m.   12/13 vs. #1 Emporia State 1:30 p.m.
Southwest Baptist will close out the week against #1 Emporia State. The Bearcats are led by Brook Duncan who is averaging 13.1 points and Dilonna Johnson with 10.7 points per game.

#11 Washburn opens faces off with Southwestern
Last Week: 12/4 d. Southwest Baptist 80-64   12/6 l. to Missouri Southern 66-62
Upcoming: 12/15 vs. Southwestern 5:30 p.m.
#11 Washburn will be at home against Southwestern this week. The Ichabods are led by Taylor Ignoto who is averaging 15.0 points per game. On the glass Dana Channel is averaging 6.4 boards per contest.
