Couples Rush to the Altar to Marry on 12/13/14

Updated:
More than a dozen couples rush to the altar to wed on a day they will never forget.

“We were trying to find one day that would be kind of special that we would remember and we just come up with 12, 13, 14, and then decided to get married at 10:11 on that day,” says Pleasanton, KS newlywed Randy Johnson.

For the Johnsons the date wasn't the only special thing about their wedding day. They've both stood at the altar together before and this day is a commitment to their new life back together.

“It's special today because it's near Christmas and we're tying the knot again to be back together, because we truly love one another and want to be together,” says his wife Jayla.

The McKees were married at lucky 11:11am and for them 11 means happiness.

“Numbers are significant in my family, especially 11. So at 11am 12-13-14, it all comes together,” says Grove, OK newlywed Debbie McKee.

The Shadducks were also hitched at 11 o' clock.

“I picked it so I wouldn't forget the anniversary date,” says Matt Shadduck.

“He'll never forget,” says Debbie McKee.

“I won't forget because some days it will be on Friday the 13th, it'll be a lucky day."

For Lavern's Wedding Chapel, the date means big business.

“Through the week you know, maybe one a week, one a day, or seven a week, something like that and today we're having fourteen,” says owner Patricia Jones.

She says other popular days include:

“Valentine's Day is always a busy day for us, of course. 1989 we had 92 couples on a Friday and that was really busy. And then of course 7-7-07 was busy. We had like 27 weddings that day."

The Johnsons were trying to get married in secret and were waiting to see if their folks noticed their new rings on Christmas but...

"Now they might find out earlier, that's true,” Randy laughs.
