MIAA men's basketball plays way into holiday break

 A final week of league contests stand between many MIAA women's basketball teams and the holiday break as they enter week six. 


Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#3 Central Missouri at home for national TV game
Last Week: 12/15 d. Culver-Stockton 81-59
Upcoming: 12/18 vs. central Oklahoma 7:30 p.m.   12/20 vs. Northeastern State 10 a.m.
#3 Central Missouri will face Northeastern State on National Television (CBS Sports Network) as they close out pre-holiday break play. The Mules are led by Rakeem Dickerson who is averaging 13.5 points and a team best 5.5 assists per game. Dillon Deck is averaging 11.8 points and TJ White 10.8 points and a team best 6.5 rebounds per contest.

Central Oklahoma hits the road
Last Week: 12/4 d. Lindenwood 93-70   12/7 d. Lincoln 93-70
Upcoming: 12/18 at #3 Central Missouri 7:30 p.m.   12/20 at Missouri Western 3:30 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will hit the road for two league games before the holiday break. The Bronchos are led by Mahlon Jones who is averaging 15.3 points and Garen Wright with 14.1 points per game. Cal Andrews is averaging 10.7 points and Seth Heckart 10.5 points per contest.

Emporia State hits the road
Last Week: 12/13 l. to Southwest Baptist 71-51   12/16 d. McPherson 87-71
Upcoming: 12/20 at Missouri Southern 2 p.m.
Emporia State will be on the road to face Missouri Southern during week number six. The Hornets are led by Terrence Moore who is averaging 17.1 points and a team best 4.5 rebouds per game. Jevon Taylor joins him in double figures averaging 11.4 points per contest.

Fort Hays State heads for Maryville
Last Week: 12/16 d. Bethany 95-52
Upcoming: 12/20 at Northwest Missouri 3:30 p.m.
Fort Hays State will travel to Northwest Missouri as they close things out prior to the holiday break. The Tigers are led by Craig Nicholson who is averaging 15.2 points and MIAA Athlete of the Week Dom Samac with 10.9 points and 5.7 boards per game.

Lincoln opens short homestand
Last Week: 12/4 d. Northeastern State 75-69    12/7 l. to Central Oklahoma 93-70
Upcoming: 12/18 vs. Washburn 7:30 p.m.    12/20 vs. Nebraska-Kearney 3:30 p.m.
Lincoln will play two at home before the holiday break rolls around. The Blue Tigers are led by Joshua Buie is 17.7 points and Mike Smith with 14.1 points per contest.

Lindenwood faces two from league at home
Last Week: 12/10 l. to Missouri St. Louis 83-77   12/13 l. to Maryville 80-76
Upcoming: 12/18 vs. Nebraska-Kearney 7:30 p.m.    12/20 vs. Washburn 3 p.m.
Lindenwood will be at home for two straight league contests. The Lions are led by Cory Arentsen who is averaging 13.0 points and Darris Smith who adds 10.2 points per contest.

Missouri Southern at home for ESU
Last Week: 12/6 d. Culver-Stockton 97-63
Upcoming: 12/20 vs. Emporia State 2 p.m.
Missouri Southern will be at home to take on Emporia State during week six. The Lions are led by Taevaunn Prince with 13.5 points, Lane Barlow with 12.9 points and Cameron Cornelius with 11.2 points per contest. 

Missouri Western faces Oklahoma squads
Last Week: 12/14 d. Baptist Bible College 97-57
Upcoming: 12/18 vs. Northeastern State 7:30 p.m.   12/20 vs. Central Oklahoma 3:30 p.m.
Missouri Western will host the two MIAA teams from Oklahoma in week number six. The Griffons are led by Ryan Devers who is averaging 14.3 points and Kevin Thomas with 5.4 rebounds per contest.

Nebraska-Kearney hits the road
Last Week: 12/10 l. to Bellevue 80-67   12/13 d. South Dakota Mines 78-63   12/15 d. Hastings 94-86
Upcoming: 12/18 at Lindenwood 7:30 p.m.   12/20 at Lincoln 3:30 p.m.   
Nebraska-Kearney will travel to Lindenwood and Lincoln as they close out pre-holiday play. The Lopers are led by Ethan Brozek with 20.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game and Connor Beranek with 16.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest.

Northeastern State plays UCM on national TV
Last Week: 12/4 l. to Lincoln 75-69    12/6 d. Lindenwood 86-65
Upcoming: 12/18 at Missouri Western 7:30 p.m.    12/20 at #3 Central Missouri 10 a.m.
Northeastern State will face off with #3 Central Missouri on the CBS Sports Network prior to the holiday break. The RiverHawks are led by Michael Harmon with 19.9 points and Demone Harrison with 13.3 points per game this season.

Northwest Missouri continues homestand
Last Week: 12/16 d. Iowa Weselyan 89-53
Upcoming: 12/20 vs. Fort Hays State 3:30 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will continue a three game homestand as they welcome Fort Hays State.  The Bearcats are led by Justin Pitts who is averaging 16.9 points per game. Connor Crooker is averaging 13.7 points and Grant Cozad 12.4 points per game.

Pittsburg State hits the road for one
Last Week: 12/6 d. Northwest Missouri 69-67
Upcoming: 12/20 at Southwest Baptist 7 p.m.
Pittsburg State will travel to Southwest Baptist before the holiday break. The Gorillas are led by Josiah Gustafson with 17.0 points and Devon Branch who is scoring 16.6 points per contest.

Southwest Baptist closes out hometand
Last Week: 12/13 d. Emporia State 71-51   12/15 d. Blue Mountain 69-46
Upcoming: 12/20 vs. Pittsburg State 7 p.m.   12/30 vs. William Woods 7 p.m. 
Southwest Baptist will close out a four game homestand just before the new year.  The Bearcats are led by Menas Stephens who is averaging a double-double with 11.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.

Washburn hits the road
Last Week: 12/13 l. to Rockhurst 47-48   12/15 d. Tabor 76-61
Upcoming: 12/18 at Lincoln 7:30 p.m.   12/20 at Lindenwood 3 p.m.
Washburn will hit the road for the eastern part of Missouri to face Lincoln and Lindenwood. The Ichabods are led by Alex North who is averaging 13.5 points and Kyle Wiggins with 10.1 points per contest.

    Tuition is still going up at Missouri Southern State University, but it's tweaking the cost increase to credit hours to avoid a state fine. Missouri Southern's Board of Governors approved a 15 percent increase in student tuition last April, upping credit hours by $30.
