Activities & Free Concert @ Joplin vs. Webb City

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

The Eagles take on the Cardinals in a rivalry that has spanned throughout the years! Make sure you make it out to the first home basketball game at the new Joplin High School on Friday, December 19th. The Alliance of Southwest Missouri, partnered with the Joplin Booster Club, Joplin High School Fusion Club, and MoDOT, will be hosting fun activities before the game and a FREE concert after the Varsity game. A very special thank you to the event's main sponsor, Hometown Pediatrics. The fun and activities start at 4:00 p.m. The JV basketball game will start at 4:30 p.m. Concert is to immediately follow the Varsity game at 9:00 p.m. in Eagle Alley.

Activities sponsored by MoDOT include putting puzzles together while wearing fatal vision goggles and real life examples of how texting and driving can impact one's life. The Alliance, Joplin Booster Club, and Fusion are sponsoring the anticipated music of up-and-coming country star Clint Austin.

“It's not often you see a great band come and perform at a school. I feel that it will provide a very ecstatic environment for the night. Myself and the rest of the student body are looking forward to celebrating after we get the ‘W'!”-Jonathan Maturino, Joplin High School Senior.

The activities sponsored are to help show attendees just how impactful being impaired or distracted while driving can affect one's life. Both MODOT and The Alliance offer specific programs to help teach youth how to stay safe while driving and to live a substance-free lifestyle.

The Alliance is dedicated in making the four-states a safer, healthier community. This event could not be possible without the partnership with MoDOT, Joplin Booster Club, Joplin High School, and the Joplin High School Fusion Club.
