Press Release PSU:

Lindenwood University converted 13 3-pointers to help the Lions claim a 69-65 road win over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Jan. 3) at John Lance Arena.

Cory Arentsen hit the final 3-pointer of the afternoon with 25 seconds remaining to give the Lions (7-6, 3-2 MIAA) a 67-63 cushion against the Gorillas (6-5, 2-1 MIAA). After Josiah Gustafson tipped in a missed 3-pointer by Dakota Jones, Pitt State fouled Arentsen and he made both free throws with 5.6 seconds to play to seal the win.

The Gorillas had a five-game winning streak snapped in the loss.

Gustafson led all scorers with 24 points. He converted 9 of 16 shots from the field as the Gorillas shot 43.4 percent from the floor in the game (23 of 53). Devon Branch added 11 points, while Lamine Dieng finished with 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Arentsen led three Lions players in double figures with 16 points. Darris Smith and LJ McIntosh added 13 apiece.

Pitt State will return to action Monday (Jan. 5) to complete a three-game homestand by hosting MIAA rival Lincoln University at 7:30 p.m.

Tuition is still going up at Missouri Southern State University, but it's tweaking the cost increase to credit hours to avoid a state fine. Missouri Southern's Board of Governors approved a 15 percent increase in student tuition last April, upping credit hours by $30. But state education law doesn't allow tuition increases beyond the consumer price index. To avoid a $1.1 million fine, MSSU adjusted down the tuition increase to $20 more per credit.
