Press Release PSU:

Pittsburg State senior Lizzy Jeronimus added two more records to her resume on Monday night (Jan. 5), as the Gorillas earned a 86-56 win over the Lincoln Blue Tigers in John Lance Arena.

The first record of the night came as Jeronimus attempted her third free throw of the game with 13:29 to go in the first half. With that she set new PSU and MIAA records for career free throw attempts. She now has attempted 725 career free throws. The previous record was held by Leslie Dudley, a PSU Hall of Famer that played for the Gorillas from 1997-2000. Her second record came with 3:27 to go as she grabbed her ninth rebound of the game and broke a 12-year old school record with her 706th career rebound. Dani Fronabarger had held the record with 705 rebounds from 1990-93.

Jeronimus finished the night with 28 points and nine rebounds. She was 9-for-11 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Her shooting was indicative of the shooting of the entire Gorilla team, as Pitt State shot 59 percent (17-of-29) from the floor in the first half and just over 50 percent (36-of-70) for the game.

Three additional players scored in double figures. Antqunita Reed came of the bench to score 13 and pull down six rebounds in her best performance since returning from a knee injury. Kylie Gafford added 10 points with seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. Hailey Roderique, typically a huge defensive threat for the Gorillas, showed off her scoring abilities with 10 points. Morgan Westhoff was just short of double figures with nine. Brigit Hesser scored only two points, but was crucial to the Gorilla offense as she also dished out five assists.

In a night that saw the Pitt State upperclassmen really take charge, some younger players were also able to put together some productive minutes. Freshman Elena Flott scored five points and pulled down six rebounds. Mikalea Burgess and Hadyn Herlocker each had three assists on the night.

The Gorillas led by as many as 39 in the game and led for all but 14 seconds.

Pitt State will now take to the road again to face Central Missouri at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Missouri Western at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
