ALTAMONT, KANSAS -

“ Coach Tucker and I are very happy for these players. They have all worked hard at improving their game and already that work is paying off in the form of these scholarships. Now, as they have said themselves, they can relax more and simply play the game they love and not press too hard. It's going to be an exciting season!” Coach Ybarra.

  • Jake Mattox (Independence CC) has also been a 3 year varsity starter for the Grizzlies on the infield and as a pitcher. Jake is the son of Dave and Julie Mattox of Parsons. “Jake is a player who truly loves the game and never tires of playing it. He has grown quite a bit during his career and we're excited to see how many feet he has gained on his fastball this season and how much ground he can cover at SS.”
  • Austin Yanez (Southeastern CC in Beatrice, NE) is also a 3 year starter for the Grizzlies as an outfielder. Austin has been selected to the ALL SEK 1st team in 2 of those seasons. He is the son of Vince and Gina Yanez of Parsons. “ Austin has been a cornerstone in our outfield and is a talented athlete overall. He has great potential and like Braden and Jake, his best baseball is clearly in front of him.”
  • Braden Anderson (Cowley County CC has been a 3 year varsity starter at LCHS and has been selected to the ALL SEK Baseball Team 2x. Anderson has played infield, outfield and pitched for the Grizzlies during his career. Braden is the son of the late, Brian Anderson, and Ed and Cami Raschen of rural Coffeyville. “ Braden has been a great competitor for us, specifically on the hill. His tenacity has kept us in most every game he has started for us. We expect him to have a great senior season.”
