Mulberry Standoff Ends

MULBERRY, KANSAS -

At 4:55 am The Crawford County Sheriff's Office dispatch received a 911 call from 108 N. Lincoln Mulberry Kansas. The caller hung up. Deputies were dispatched for the unknown problem.

As deputies approached the residence at two shots were fired through the wall from the inside of the residence. The deputies took cover and requested additional assistance.

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office Tactical Team was deployed and negotiations began with the caller by telephone. Over the next several hours more shots were fired from inside the residence.

Negotiations continued until 11:00 am when the subject exited the residence and was taken into custody. The subject was identified as Shaun Simpson 32 years old of Mulberry. Also in the residence at the time were Simpson's mother and girlfriend. It is believed that the two were held against their will.

Simpson was transported to the Crawford County Jail. Charges are pending at this time but could include Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault on an LEO and Aggravated Assault.

There were no injuries and no shots fired by law enforcement.

Arma Schools are no longer in lock down. This was confirmed by an Arma School Board Member.
