Joplin, MO (SNS) – Evan Jewsbury has been named the new director of human resources at Missouri Southern State University.

A Joplin native, Jewsbury received his bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern in 2009. He received his master's degree in human resource development in 2010 from Pittsburg State University.

Since 2013, he has served as director of human resources at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, Okla. He previously served as human resources manager for Ozarks Community Hospital and as the general manager of Truck Toys in Joplin.

His hiring follows the retirement of Debbie Dutch Kelley in November 2014 after more than 13 years of service.

“My personal mission is to provide quality HR services to attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse workforce within a supportive work environment,” said Jewsbury. “This is accomplished with a strong emphasis being placed on customer service along with delivering excellent consultation and communication to the faculty and staff.”

Jewsbury said that he is grateful for the opportunity to return to the Missouri Southern campus.

“The university has seen a lot of change since I was a student,” he said. “I'm excited to return to such a healthy campus and look forward to becoming part of the Lion community.”
