Westhoff, No. 9 Gorillas Rain 3s in 85-55 Win Over UCO

Morgan Westhoff knocked down seven 3-pointers en route to a season high 23 points to lead the ninth-ranked Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to an 85-55 victory over the University of Central Oklahoma Thursday (Jan. 29).


The Gorillas (19-3, 9-2 MIAA) handled a short turnaround, building a 13-point halftime edge over the Bronchos (13-8, 6-6) one night after taking a 66-56 road win over Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, Okla.

Westhoff converted seven of nine attempts from long range in the contest and Pitt State made 10 treys overall.

Lizzy Jeronimus added 21 points and a game-high eight rebounds for the Gorillas, while Kylie Gafford finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Cathy Brugman also came off the bench to add 10 points to Pitt State's scoring total, while Antqunita Reed chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

UCO, which made just 33 percent of its attempts on 21 of 63 shooting, got 13 points from Chelsea Robinson and 11 apiece from Julie Mason and Marley Anderson.

The Gorillas will wrap up a busy week of MIAA action by traveling to Bolivar, Mo., Saturday (Jan. 31) to face Southwest Baptist Universit at 1:30 p.m.
