Pittsburg's Via Christi receives $81 thousand donation

Updated:
Pittsburg's Via Christi auxiliary presented a check of $81,000 to the hospital.  The gift will be used to purchase various patient care items and machines.  The auxiliary group raised the money from selling items in the hospital's gift shop, and also through fundraising activities.

"Some of the volunteers work maybe one week, a four hour shift.  Some of them work three to four days a week.  They love it, they love ti give," says Susan Barrett with Via Christi.

The auxiliary group also recognized 80-year-old Joann Wattelet.  She's worked the equivalent of 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year for the past 11 and a half years.

"I feel like it's a great accomplishment," says Wattelet.  "It's something I love to do and I think I'm helping others by doing this.  And it makes me feel good."
