Emporia State baseball picked a top MIAA preseason coaches poll

Emporia State has been picked by the coaches around the league to set atop the preseason poll in baseball. The Hornets earned ten of the first place votes after winning the MIAA Tournament Championship last season.


Central Missouri earned two first place votes coming off a year that saw them win the regular season title. Central Oklahoma has been picked to finish third in the league by the coaches and also earned two first place votes. Missouri Western, who played ESU in the MIAA Tournament Championship, has been selected to finish in the third slot.

Nebraska-Kearney has been picked to finish fifth this season by the coaches with Missouri Southern earning the sixth place overall. Southwest Baptist has been selected to finish seventh in the league just one point ahead of Northeastern State who earned the eighth slot from the coaches.

Washburn was picked in the ninth slot by the coaches just five points ahead of LIndenwood who earned the tenth place nod. In a tie for 11th as each got 44 points in the poll are Fort Hays State and Pittsburg State.

Picked to finish 13th in the league is Northwest Missouri with Lincoln picked to finish 14th in this years poll.

The regular season is scheduled to get underway starting today with teams set to begin league play on Feb. 20.
