Eight Gorillas Earn Academic Honors From USTFCCCA

Eight Pittsburg State University cross country athletes – three men and five women – earned All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA for the 2014 season.


For the men, sophomore Ren Bean (chemistry), junior Austin Bogina (early childhood/late childhood) and sophomore Andrew Rodgers (marketing) received the academic honors. The Pitt State women were represented on the academic list by senior redshirt freshman Paige Denton (early childhood/late childhood), junior Hannah DeVries (biology), Alex Moase (exercise science), freshman Katren Rienbolt (accounting) and sophomore Paige White (early childhood/late childhood).

Additionally, both the Pitt State men's and women's squads were recognized as All-Academic Teams.  The Gorilla men carried a 3.43 cumulative combined GPA, while the Pitt State women sported a 3.85 cumulative combined GPA – the second-highest GPA among all NCAA Division II women's programs (Maryville University, 3.90 GPA).

    Tuition is still going up at Missouri Southern State University, but it's tweaking the cost increase to credit hours to avoid a state fine. Missouri Southern's Board of Governors approved a 15 percent increase in student tuition last April, upping credit hours by $30.
