Pittsburg State senior women's basketball player Lizzy Jeronimus has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Wednesday (Feb. 25). 



This is the first Academic All-America honor for Jeronimus, who earned Academic All-District honors three times, each year she was eligible. It is the first Academic All-America honor for Gorilla women's basketball since Leslie Dudley earned the honor in 2000.

While Jeronimus' playing accomplishments are widely known, as she is the Gorillas all-time leading scorer and rebounder and is currently fourth on the MIAA's list for career scoring, she is also an acheiver in the classroom and in the community. She holds a 3.79 GPA as a management major at Pittsburg State. She has been active in helping to raise money for Make-A-Wish and in visitng schools with the Mathletes program. Last year she earned the MIAA's Ken B. Jones Award as the top female student-athlete in the conference.

DJeronimus has been a three-time WBCA All-American and will contend for those honors again this season. She, Dudley and Dani Fronabarger, who Jeronimus topped for the scoring and rebounding records, respectively, are the only three players in program history to earn both All-America and Academic All-America honors.
