MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal Capsules

 #1 Northwest Missouri vs. #8 Washburn

Top seeded Northwest Missouri will face off with #8 Washburn at 12 noon on March 5 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Bearcats enter the tournament averaging 75.3 points while allowing their opponents 64.7 points per game. They are led by MIAA Freshman of the Year Justin Pitts who is averaging 16.0 points and 3.6 assists per game. Conner Crooker is averaging 14.6 points, Zach Schneider 12.0 points and Grant Cozad added 11.9 points per contest.

The Ichabods advanced to the quarterfinals by defeated Fort Hays State and are averaging 71.5 points while allowing 68.0 points per game. They are led by Kyle Wiggins who is averaging 14.8 points per contest this season. Alex North is averaging 11.2 points and a team best 7.1 rebounds per contest.

The winner will advance to face the winner of #4 Lindenwood and #5 Pittsburg State on March 7 at 12 noon from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

#4 Lindenwood vs. #5 Pittsburg State

Fourth seeded Lindenwood will play #5 Pittsburg State at 2:15 p.m. on March 5 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament.

The Lions enter the tournament averaging 73.1 points while allowing their opponents 66.1 points per contest. They are led by Cory Arentsen who is averaging 15.1 points while on the glass Sam Mader leads the team with 5.1 rebounds per game. Darris Smith is averaging 13.4 points per game and leads the team with 26 steals.

The Gorillas advanced to the quarterfinal by defeated Northeastern State and now average 71.0 points while allowing 66.5 points per game. They are led by Josiah Gustafson with 16.2 points while Javis Flynn is dishing out a team best 5.3 assists per contest. Devon Branch is averaging 14.7 points and Trey Starks 10.8 points per game this season.

The winner will face off with either #1 Northwest Missouri or #8 Washburn at 12 noon on March 7 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

#2 Central Missouri vs. #7 Central Oklahoma
Second seeded Central Missouri will face #7 Central Oklahoma at 6 p.m. on March 5 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament.

Central Missouri enters the tournament allowing 73.9 points while their opponents average 66.4 points per game. The Mules are led by Rakeem Dickerson who is averaging 12.4 points and a team best 4.1 assists per game. TJ White is averaging 10.1 points and a team best 6.1 rebounds per contest.

The Bronchos defeated Missouri Western to advance and now average 78.8 points while opponents average 71.1 points per contest. They are led by Mahlon Jones who is averaging 13.4 points and Phillip Brown is averaging 10.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Seth Heckart is averaging 10.6 points and 3.6 assists while Garen Wright is averaging 10.0 points per contest.

The winner will face either #3 Missouri Southern or #6 Nebraska-Kearney at 2:15 p.m. on March 7 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

#3 Missouri Southern vs. #6 Nebraska-Kearney
Third seeded Missouri Southern will face off with #6 Nebraska-Kearney at 8:15 p.m. on March 5 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament.

Missouri Southern enters the tournament averaging 77.5 points while allowing opponents 72.3 points per game this season. The Tigers are led by Taevaunn Prince who is averaging 16.2 points and a team best 7.1 rebounds per game. Lane Barlow is averaging 11.6 points and a team best 3.4 assists while Cameron Cornelius averages 11.2 points per contest.

The Lopers defeated Southwest Baptist to make the quarterfinals and average 78.1 points while allowing 74.0 points per contest. They are led by MIAA Player of the Year Connor Beranek who is averaging 19.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Ethan Brozek is averaging 17.1 points and 7.7 boards while Trey Lansman is averaging 12.1 points per contest.

The winner will face either #2 Central Missouri or #7 Central Oklahoma at 2:15 p.m. on March 7 from Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

On September 22nd, 2018, authorities responded to the area of south 520th Ave (Country Club Rd) and 205th Street about the theft of cattle. The cattle, belonging to Wood Farms, are 600 to 650 lbs, all black in color with some having white faces except one all red steer.
