Body found near Hickory Creek in Neosho; no foul play suspected


At approximately 10 a.m. on March 6, officers with the Neosho Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of North College Street (Morse Park – North) in reference to a body found next to Hickory Creek.

When officers arrived they located a body lying next to the creek. The deceased appears to be a middle aged white male. His name will be released once proper identification has been determined, and family has been notified.

During the investigation, officers found no signs of foul play. However, the case remains open until a report from the Newton County Coroner is obtained. A toxicology screen is underway, and the results are pending.

The deceased has been removed from the scene and taken to Clark's Funeral Home in Neosho.
