Aviation Education and Facility Tour Program

JOPLIN, MISSOURI - The Joplin Regional Airport and other aviation organizations have joined together to offer tours regarding the airport and the aviation industry.  The program, "A Day At The Airport", offers hands-on activities for the kids that teach basic principles of flight, as well as tours of the Joplin Airline Terminal, the CAP Air and Space Technical Center, the Joplin Airport Fire and Rescue facility, the old Joplin Air Traffic Control Tower and a medical flight helicopter.  

These opportunities are made available with the assistance of the Mizzou Aviation, Alpha Air, The Freedom of Flight Museum, and Civil Air Patrol. 


Take a tour of the facility and see everything the airport has to offer

  • Tours can last 1 to 2 hours; based on time visitors have available.
  • Tours of 20-100 people are free; Schedule 3-4 weeks advanced.

    In the fall of 2016 City of Joplin engineering staff held an initial public meeting with area property owners to accept input in the design of the 44th Street widening project, as well as the improvements along Connecticut Avenue from the bridge over I-44, south to 44th Street.  These projects were approved in August 2014, with the renewal of a 10-year, 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax.  Since this meeting, the City has selected George Butler and Associates,...More >>
