ESU women defeat PSU in overtime thriller

PRESS RELEASE MIAA:

Second seed Emporia State and third seed Pittsburg State played to a dead heat before ESU pulled out a 65-54 overtime win.

ESU's largest lead was 11, which came in overtime, while PSU held a six point lead in the first half. ESU made the difference at the line hitting 22 of 25 free throws as they outrebounded PSU 45-33 on the night.

For the Lady Hornets Merissa Quick had a double-double scoring 23 points and pulling down a game high 11 rebounds. Kelsey Barnwell had 15 points and Kathrynn Flott finished with 14 points while on the glass Kelly Moten added 10 boards. For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way with 20 points while Kylie Gafford had 10 points and a team best eight rebounds. Haiely Roderique also finished with 10 points while dishing out three assists.

Emporia State will await the winner of #1 Fort Hays State and #4 Wayne State at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 16 from Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan.
