Program explores the mysteries of the Shroud of Turin

Updated:
PITTSBURG, KANSAS -

“Shroud Encounter,” a program that uses a CSI approach to explore the science and history around the famous Shroud of Turin, will be presented at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at Pittsburg State University's Bicknell Family Center for the Arts. The program is sponsored by PSU's Newman Club.

The Shroud of Turin is one of the most researched and analyzed artifacts in the word, yet it remains a mystery. Many believe it to be the burial cloth of Jesus. Others believe it to be an elaborate Medieval hoax.

“Shroud Encounter” does not attempt to resolve the mystery, but leaves it up to viewers to make their own conclusions. Instead, the program, by researcher and lecturer Russ Breault, covers the scientific, historic, religious and artistic aspects of the mystery that surrounds the shroud.

“Shroud Encounter” is designed as a big screen experience and has been featured on the History Channel, the Discovery Channel and CBS. The Pittsburg presentation is free and open to the public, although a free-will donation will be collected.
