Bearcats Open Series With 7-2 Win Over Gorillas

Anthony Caenepeel tossed a complete game, blanking Pittsburg State University for seven innings en route to a 7-2 victory for Northwest Missouri State University Friday (Mar. 27).


The visiting Bearcats (14-13, 10-7 MIAA) scored runs in the first, third and sixth innings then broke the game open with a four-run seventh against the Gorillas (7-17, 3-10 MIAA).

Pitt State committed three errors in the field, leading to six unearned runs in the contest. Jake Stevenson (1-3), the hard luck loser in the contest, scattered 10 hits in eight innings of work, allowing just one earned run.

Steven Garber went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Bearcats, while Paul Johnson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Luke Bordewick and Nate Arnold had two hits apiece for the Gorillas.
