Gorillas Open Spring Drills Tuesday Morning

The Pittsburg State University football team opened 2015 Spring Drills with a morning practice Tuesday (Mar. 31) at Carnie Smith Stadium. The Gorillas, coming off an 11-2 season and an MIAA Championship in 2014, worked out in foggy conditions for 18 periods from 7 a.m. until 8:40 a.m.


Head coach Tim Beck and his coaching staff welcomed approximately 100 players into spring camp. The Gorillas return 11 players (6 offense, 5 defense) who started five or more games in 2014.

Pitt State will conduct 7 a.m. practices Wednesday and Thursday (Apr. 1-2) as well as a 9 a.m. practice Saturday (Apr. 4). The Gorillas will conclude spring drills with the Spring Game on Apr. 25 at 10 a.m. at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Republican Gov. Mike Parson has named state Treasurer Eric Schmitt to replace Sen.-elect as Missouri's attorney general. Parson appointed the 43-year-old Republican on Tuesday. The attorney general's seat will be open once Hawley joins the U.S. Senate in January. Hawley unseated Democratic Sen.
